Liposuction body area procedures are different in men and women. Women make up the higher percentage of liposuction patients in Mexico and usually get their abdomen, breasts, hips, thighs, arms, buttocks and parts of their face done. Men comprise a smaller percentage of the total number of liposuction patients in Mexico and usually get their abdomen, flanks and breasts (male breast reduction) done as well as parts of their face.
Here are some examples of liposuction body area procedures:
Abdominal Liposuction
The abdomen is the most common liposuction body area procedure in men and women. It is, however, easier to perform on a woman because her fat is softer and less fibrous. A tummy tuck is often done with abdominal liposuction.
Leg and Ankle Liposuction
Leg and ankle fat is difficult to get rid of by simply dieting and exercise because it is usually genetically predetermined. There are no large deposits of fat in the legs and ankles so superficial liposuction is usually carried out.
Arm Liposuction
Mostly women choose to undertake this procedure so that their arms look thinner and more attractive. Liposuction is carried out over the entire circumference of the arm, not just a section of it. Some fat is left behind so that the arms look smooth and normal.
Back Liposuction
The fat on the back is divided into different sections and removed accordingly. Liposuction is not usually carried out on the whole entire back because this would lead to irregularities and so not recommended.
Female Breast Liposuction
Women with overly large breasts who have breast reduction surgery may also have liposuction done at the same time. Breast liposuction without breast reduction surgery can only be carried out on women who have large fat deposits in their breasts as opposed to more glandular tissue.
Male Breast Liposuction
The male breast has fatty tissue and glandular tissue. Large amounts of fatty tissue can be removed from the male breast using liposuction. Excessive glandular tissue (found in men with the condition known as gynecomastia) can only be removed by traditional male breast reduction surgery.
Buttock Liposuction
Small cannula’s are used in buttock liposuction to give the patient a smoother and more accurate result. Liposuction does not lift the buttocks but simply removes some of the weight caused by the fat found at this site.
Face and Neck Liposuction
Smaller amounts of fat are removed from the face and neck by liposuction than from other parts of the body. Liposuction is usually carried out on the chin, cheeks and jowls, and can be a safer, easier alternative to the traditional facelift.
Male Flank Liposuction
Male flanks are also known as “love handles” and tend to bulge over the belt line. Men choose to get flank liposuction so their silhouette is more streamlined. Liposuction can be difficult for some male patients because they have fibrous fat which is harder to remove than soft fat.
Anterior (front) Thigh Liposuction
Patients usually want to enhance the contours of their outer thighs rather than remove large volumes of fat from this area. Too much fat removal results in skin irregularities and is not recommended. Thigh liposuction is usually carried out in stages in order to avoid leg swelling.
Inner and Outer Thigh Liposuction
Inner and outer thigh liposuction is commonly requested by women who want thinner thighs that don’t rub together or bulge out on the side. Liposuction is usually performed around the knees at the same time so the resulting look is a smoother outline. The fat from the thigh area is easy to remove by liposuction because it is mostly soft fat.
